Coming Together

Not one individuals or one organization can eradicate the mystery of gun violence. If we are to be succeed in are attempt to eliminate gun violence it will take a collaborative effort amongst residents, politicians, law enforcement, and other supporting entities.

Enforcement Responsibility:

To reduce gun violence include a wide range of efforts to interrupt the illegal supply of guns, deter gun possession, reduce gun carrying in public places, toughen responses to illegal gun use, reduce demand for firearms, promote responsible ownership of guns, and address community conditions that foster gun crime. Law enforcement agencies are central to these efforts. In addition to investigating violent gun crimes after the fact, police can also use a variety of proactive strategies to reduce gun crime. In general, little is known about the use or effectiveness of many such efforts. However, growing evidence suggests that efforts targeted on high risk places, behaviors, and actors are effective, particularly when conducted in the context of multi-agency problem-solving efforts. Partnerships with federal agencies have also become increasingly important to state and local efforts to reduce gun crime.

Residents Responsibility:

Coming from an area that is highly saturated with gun violence I know first hand how critical it is for residents to also become proactive. Living in the neighbors where gunshots are heard frequently many residents are treating it as a norm. This absolutely can’t happen our neighbors are not shooting range. Even if it’s everyday on the same second of every hour it’s imperative that resident’s communicate with law enforcement that they’ve heard gun shoot. Also if resident’s observe any suspicious activity again they must communicate with the police!!!

Politicians Responsibility:

Identifying the policy changes that could reduce American firearm slaughter is easy, of course – and figuring out a politically viable way of getting these policies enacted is another matter. State legislators must must free themselves from the, “Status Quo” we are well aware that it’s not one or two policy will not reduce gun violence as a whole but we are actually requesting is to hear us out especially when sensible gun laws is presented. The take no action approach is equivalent and encouraging to the on going massacre of gun violence.
